Fizz Five: Highlights From Interview With Oshae Brissett

Class of 2017 hoops commit Oshae Brissett came on Fizz Radio this week to discuss all things Orange. Read what Syracuse’s newest forward has to say about the Boeheim to Hopkins transition, his favorite NBA player and much more below.

On why he chose SU…

“When they first started recruiting me, they came to my school and I developed a good relationship with Coach Autry and Coach Boeheim and then after they left they kept in contact with me, my parents and came back a couple of times to watch practices and games and I just felt comfortable knowing those guys would be my coaches for next year. I also had a great time on my visit. I met a lot of good people and just had fun there.”

On Coach Autry…

“I talk with Coach Autry almost everyday. He checks in on me to see how I’m doing. I check in on him. We talk all the time.”

On Syracuse’s performance this year…

“Just watching them I try to see how I could fit in for next year and what I could do to help them rack up some wins. They’re playing a lot better now. To start off the year there were a whole bunch of transfers coming in so I guess they were just figuring out how to play and it’s starting to work out now.”

On the future coaching transition…

“Mike Hopkins, he’s been under Coach Boeheim for his whole coaching career and he also played there so he knows Coach Boeheim’s style of play so I don’t feel like there will be much of a change and I feel like that’s what people fail to understand. All of those guys have played for Coach Boeheim so there won’t be much of a transition.”

On who he looks up to in the NBA…

“My favorite player right now is Paul George. I watch a lot of games of him playing and I like the way that he can score. He doesn’t use a lot of dribbles to get where he wants and he has great length on the defensive end. That’s what I like to watch.”
