7:00 am – National Signing Day II is here!
Syracuse expects to get three signees today in QB Jacobian Morgan, DB Chase Atkinson, & QB Dillon Markiewicz. They are also waiting on at least one decision from DB Jahad Carter, which Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey reports is coming at 9:30 a.m. You can follow along all day and catch every bit of news on this thread and on our twitter @OrangeFizz.
7:12 am – DB Chase Atkinson Signs
On the heels of Syracuse’s new DC hire being reported last night, the Orange have officially added another DB to play in that 3-3-5 scheme. Atkinson is a three-star prospect from South Carolina who had an offer from Coastal Carolina. He went to the same high school in Blythewood, SC as where SU basketball player Robert Braswell finished his career. Good to wrap him up after he committed in the summer and didn’t sign in the early period because he hadn’t taken his OV till January 16th.
8:13 am – QB Jacobian Morgan becomes official
The Orange finally officially have a QB in the cycle! With one more expected to sign today, Morgan becomes the first to sign pen to paper. No reported P5 offers for this 3-star, but he’s 6-4 and has strong potential.
8:25 am – Dillon Markiewicz inks pen to paper
Markiewicz is another 3-star QB with not a lot of buzz (best offer from Boise State). However, he could be a hidden gem. He comes from the competitive Dallas area where he put up crazy numbers his senior year and is also 6’4 and mobile.
9:53 am – DB Jahad Carter picks Syracuse
This is the big news of the day so far. Carter was prioritized late and becomes fifth DB in this cycle, which is big considering the 3-3-5 scheme approach going forward. He originally was a fringe 4-star prospect in 2019 who committed to Virginia Tech. But, the Richmond native took a prep year and now commits to Syracuse where he has some family ties close by. Could maybe play some offensive. Very talented athlete.
11:21 a.m. – Syracuse Adds PWO Quarterback
Luke MacPhail becomes the third QB in this cycle for Syracuse. He’s from Brookline, MA and had interest from Boston College and North Carolina, but no reported P5 offers.
