Syracuse Target Kyle Filipowski is Absolutely Killing It This Summer

There’s no doubt Kyle Filipowski has the size to be a difference-maker in college. The 6’10” forward has an enormous wingspan, quick feet, and an improving sense of the court. What is starting to bloom though, is his all-around smooth game. He’s growing into a big who can work around slower defenders, ball handle when needed, and shoot from the outside. There’s a reason Syracuse has turned its attention towards him in the potentially stacked Class of ’22.

He’s a top 100 player in the country, swinging between the 50s and 80s. But anyone who has watched him play knows that’s far too low. He’s already got plenty of power programs offering him (Syracuse, Indiana, Creighton, Illinois, Louisville). It’s AAU season, and now there’s new sets of eyes on him. His stock is rising. Look at this highlight reel from the KYDA Invitational two weeks ago.

Left-handed dribble around the defense, slicing through the lane, coast-to-coast slam over the defender. High pass on the left side of the arc, knocked down, three pointer, splash. Entry pass at the free throw line, spin move towards basket, behind-the-back pass to a teammate for the bucket. Taking the ball up from the inbounds, behind-the-back dribble, pass down court for the easy bucket. That’s the first :30 of the video.

Filipowski is going to continue to shred people this summer and we’re here for it. The Flip Train is going to start picking up a lot more steam and passengers. Better get in while there’s still room.
