The Hub – Syracuse Football’s Early National Signing Day

Sure the holiday season is wonderful and fun, but December 15th is the day we all have been waiting for. Happy Early National Signing Day! It is the best day of the entire year, and Orange Fizz has all of your coverage throughout the day. We’ll have articles breaking down Syracuse signees, as well as podcasts and audio content if you prefer to consume your recruiting news that way.

GAME CHANGERS: Each recruiting class has its higher-rated recruits, which we call game changers. The Fizz pointed out who those players are this year and analyzed how they will impact the Orange in the future.

OFFENSIVE COMMITS: The class of 2022 doesn’t have much offensive firepower, but we are still here for you. The Fizz wrote about the offensive commits and where they will fit in on the SU roster.

DEFENSIVE COMMITS: The majority of signees in the class of 2022 are on the defensive side of the ball for Syracuse. The Fizz told you who the new Orange players are and gave you their scouting report.

BABERS PRESS CONFERENCE: Syracuse Football Head Coach Dino Babers addressed the media during National Signing Day. The Fizz had the write up on everything the head man had to say.

BRALYN OLIVER: Syracuse is not only bringing in high school recruits, but also transfers today. Former Louisville safety Bralyn Oliver announced he is come to Cuse, and the Fizz has everything you need to know about him.

DENIS JAQUEZ: Syracuse was supposed to only have ten commits in the class of 2022, but Denis Jaquez was rumored to be interested in the Orange. The Fizz broke down what type of player he is and what a commitment from him would mean prior to the New Jersey native signing with SU on Wednesday.

TWO EARLY ENROLLEES: Newly inked signees Mekhi Mason and Dom Foster are planning on enrolling early at SU to get a jumpstart. So, the Fizz took a look at how the two could make an early impact for the Orange.

RECRUITING BASEMENT: Syracuse’s recruiting hasn’t been the best in the Dino Babers era. The Fizz analyzed the head coach’s past classes and hypothesized about the future.

The guys give their thoughts on an underwhelming class, analyze some of the strengths and weaknesses of the group, and point out the big names you should know.

Timeline

7:21 AM: Three-star linebacker Mekhi Mason becomes the first player to sign with the Orange.

7:26 AM: Dom Foster, a three-star athlete that will suit up on the defensive side of the ball for Syracuse, signs as the second highest rated prospect for SU.

7:36 AM: Cornell Perry, a three-star athlete, was the first player to commit to ‘Cuse back in February and now puts pen to paper.

7:41 AM: A three-star defensive lineman, Belizaire Bassette, signs with Syracuse at a position the Orange are going to need to fill.

7:46 AM: Three-star defensive back Quan Peterson signs with the Orange as one of three DB’s in the class.

8:09 AM: Three-star offensive lineman, and a top-10 recruit in New York, Joe Cruz stays at home and signs with Syracuse.

8:19 AM: Jeremiah Wilson, a three-star cornerback, signs with Syracuse over other offers including Iowa State, Washington State and Arizona.

8:22 AM: The highest rated recruit in the class and the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the year, three-star running back LeQuint Allen has signed with Syracuse.

8:41 AM: Three-star offensive tackle Chad Schuster is the second O-lineman to sign with the Orange.

8:51 AM: Three-star edge Denis Jaquez has signed with Syracuse. The New Jersey native was previously committed to Northwestern, but decommitted and selected Cuse today.

9:04 AM: Former Syracuse tight end Luke Benson announces his commitment to ACC foe Georgia Tech. This is now back to back seasons that a tight end has transferred out of the program.

9:11 AM: Safety Bralyn Oliver announces his transfer to Syracuse. The former three-star recruit is leaving Louisville and picked SU after decommitting to Oregon State.

9:22 AM: The final player that was expected to sign with the Orange, Donovan Brown, a three-star wide receiver, has put pen to paper.

4:31 PM: Three-star Kadin Bailey becomes the second linebacker to sign with the Orange in the class of 2022.
