There is a lot of negativity out there surrounding the Syracuse Men’s Basketball program, and rightfully so. The Orange are 7-8 at the midway point of the season, the worst start since 1968-69. The losses keep piling up, the defense looks atrocious, the offense is non-existent, and there are plenty of other worries. At this point, it seems like the football team is going to have the better season.
Despite all of that, let’s try to be positive and look at the individuals who have performed well so far. Before the season began, the Fizz staff writers voted on different awards. We landed on Buddy Boeheim being the team MVP and best offensive player, Jesse Edwards being the best defensive player and most improved, and Benny Williams and Cole Swider shared the title of best newcomer.
We are exactly halfway through the season, so lets amend those predictions and update our thoughts. For the Fizz’s mid-season awards each staff member has their own ballot. Then, we tallied up the votes for an averaged-out group decision. Check them out below:
