BB Recruiting

Was Marcus Adams Jr. Not Sold on Syracuse?

After the commitment of Elijah Moore, Marcus Adams Jr. was the next name on the list for Syracuse fans. Adam Weitsman offered the four-star recruit an NIL deal in late January, Adams also visited the campus in late January, and he had dropped a top five with Syracuse in the forefront. A six-foot-eight forward with legit scoring ability, Adams could be a part of the class of 2023 or 2024. After his announcement that he could reclassify, offers have come rolling in. Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Indiana and USC have all entered the fray, thus explaining the above graphic.

Adams is headed to Kansas this weekend to watch the Jayhawks play West Virginia. One must think that being courted by top-five teams that are surely just as deep in the NIL game as Syracuse must hold a little sway. Adams definitely has all the right in the world to explore those options, as the Orange season goes into a tailspin. However, SU pulled a move that other schools will also probably follow.

Adams’ younger brother Maximo is already six-foot-six, and in the class of 2026. He holds double-digit offers, including schools like Texas and Oregon. The heavy hitters are surrounding the Adams family. However, a jersey retirement ceremony for two of the best players on your national championship team is something not many schools can pull off well, and we know the Dome will be packed to the gills, regardless of SU’s record. Maybe that’s the ticket to snagging Marcus, and potentially his younger brother as well.
