Syracuse vs. Florida State: Crystal Ball Predictions

FRANCESCO (4-0) (EXEMPT FROM PREDICTION):

No rest for the weary. After two straight games of disappointment for Syracuse, the Orange have to go in the road to face a team that’s even better in a sold out environment. Make no bones about it, this is going to be an incredibly difficult game for Syracuse to win. Florida State is a legitimate playoff contender. Add almost 80,000 fans cheering against you on top of that. If you’re Syracuse, the mantra has to be to make this a game in the second half. Before you can even think about winning, step one is to stay in the game. Make it competitive in the second half, and then see what happens. If not, there will be a lot to talk dissect during the bye week.

ADAM (5-0): Florida State 48, Syracuse 7

If you thought that North Carolina was a rough game, this will be even worse. FSU is just as good if not better in every aspect of the game than UNC was. The Seminoles are bigger on the lines and more athletic. Jordan Travis may be a better college quarterback than Drake Maye even though he won’t get drafted as high.

Syracuse’s offense has been silent ever since the Army game and unless something drastically changes, it’ll be the same thing this week.

LIAM (4-1): Florida State 52, Syracuse 7

North Carolina was ugly. Florida State could be hideous. The Seminoles are one of the most talented teams in all of college football. Jordan Travis may not have the hype Drake Maye does, but he is just as lethal, especially with the talent around him. Trey Benson could be the best running back in the ACC, and Johnny Wilson is a top-tier receiver. Defensively, Jared Verse, Tatum Bethune, and Kalen DeLoach highlight an elite Front Seven. The Orange could play an A+ game and still lose by more than 20. A lot needs to go right for an upset in Tallahassee.

ETHAN (4-1): Florida State 42, Syracuse 20

This will be the low point of Syracuse’s season. It is clear that often when Dino Babers coached teams face a bit of adversity, things tend to get worse before they get better. That will be the case this week as a far superior and more talented football team in FSU shellacks SU in Tallahassee, and the Orange have a little less than two weeks to regroup before the final five game stretch of their schedule. But, this is rock bottom (we can all hope) for 2023.

TYLER (3-1): Florida State 38, Syracuse 13

This is a matchup most SU fans penciled in as a loss before the season, and rightfully so. Florida State is a legit College Football Playoff contender.

The Seminoles have struggled a bit early in games this year. FSU trailed a bad Boston College team through one quarter. Don’t be surprised if it’s a 0-0 game 15 minutes in, but then Florida State wakes up.

Syracuse’s offense has moved slowly in the last two games, and that likely won’t change. Unless an Orange receiver steps up, it’ll be a long day in the office for Garrett Shrader and company.
