Summer Camp!

When you’re athletic enough to play football at a D-1, you go to Joe Casamento’s College Prep Football Camp the past weekend.

The sun was shining on Central New York this weekend.

Between the Taste of Syracuse (OMG Kevin Costner Cover Band!) and the gorgeous weather, many forget what the best part of the summer months offers.

Going to camp of course!

On the right, the gorgeous camp Talooli in Pennellville, New York, is where one Fizz Teamster (Ted Conroy) got his big start in life.

But when you’re athletic enough to play football at a D-1, you go to Joe Casamento’s College Prep Football Camp, which went down over the past weekend.

The two day program is offered by CBA’s head football coach as a means of promoting New York State football recruiting. According to Casamento, Empire State football gets a bad rap.

He believes New York isn’t diluted of talent, but is just too broadly spaced out for college coaches to cover easily. That often ends up with schools missing out on primetime talent.

So the longtime private school coach set out to bring all the best boys to one facility (in this case, Henninger High School’s gorgeous field.)

Some notable players who have spent their summers (weekends) singing songs, building campfires and learning zone reads include notable college stars Mike Hart and Chad Henne (Michigan products) and both Paulus bros (Mike at North Carolina, Greg coming to Syracuse).

Which begs the question: How did the previous SU coaching staffs allow ALL of them to escape CNY? That’s the Orange backyard. No seriously. Groobers could watch this camp from his deck.

Speaking of GP, he was in the news this weekend as he visited his alma mater and spoke with Channel 9 Sports.

Fizz Props to Steve Infanti, Ashley Adamson and SU product Sal Maneen over at 9 Sports.

Back to Joey C’s football camp, there’s plenty of current Orange on the list in addition to Paulus, including wideouts Lavar Lobdell, Bruce Williams, and Marcus Sales. Incoming lineman Andrew Phillips also sharpened his skills there.

In fact, Bruce was at the camp over the weekend helping out. Now who’s got the potato sacks? Sack races in 20 minutes!
