Tennessee Joins Syracuse in “Strong Position” for Huntley-Hatfield

The race for Brandon Huntley-Hatfield is one of the most interesting in recent memory for Syracuse. The 5-star playmaker has major attention from some college basketball powerhouses. The good news has been SU’s steady standing at the top of his recruitment. BHH. has had very positive things to say about the Orange, and there’s been good momentum in the Syracuse direction. The bad news is it looks like another power program may have just elbowed its way into his top slots. Jerry Meyer at 247 Sports:

There is also talk that Tennessee is in a strong position with top 10 ranked prospect Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. Ole Miss and Syracuse are also in a strong position, but the word is that there is strong consideration by Huntley-Hatfield to reclassify up to 2021 and be a Volunteer.

Right now, ESPN’s Bracketology has the Vols as a 6-seed in the tourney, which is far better than the bubble Syracuse seems to regularly reside on. The Orange will need some wins in Greensboro to slip into March Madness. Of course, winning games in this year’s NCAA Tournament doesn’t necessarily equate to a commitment from a recruit. It certainly wouldn’t hurt however, if BHH is considering reclassifying for ’21.

BHH recently wrote in a blog post, “Tennessee, Syracuse, Ole Miss and Auburn have been keeping in touch with me the most consistently right now.” It was thought that Ole Miss and Syracuse were the top dogs in this race, but it appears Tennessee may have moved into that group as well.
