Syracuse's Depth Chart Before Opener

What's up Syracuse fans? Dan Papillo here with the Orange Fizz and we are just days away now

from the long-awaited debuts of Kyle McCord, Fran Brown, and the new look Syracuse Orange football

team. They'll battle the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday at 3 30 and the depth chart has been released and

there is a lot to talk about. The first thing that particularly caught my eye was the absence of

Justice Ross Simmons from the receiver room. The Colorado State transfer had been dealing with a

nagging hamstring injury throughout camp and in his presser this week, Fran Brown said they're

erring on the side of caution with Ross Simmons but we could possibly still see him in Saturday's

matchup. Another thing that was interesting in the receiver room, at least to me, was Zede Haynes

winning the receiver one role over Umari Hatcher who, you know, the returning senior who had a lot

of praise this camp from both McCord and Brown. Something to keep an eye on as the season goes on

who will keep that role and who will develop a good relationship with McCord. Another thing that

I think is particularly interesting on the defensive side of the ball is a lot of OR designations

Elijah Robinson, the new defensive coordinator coming over from Texas A&M, wanted to have a lot

of rotation on that front line and you're going to see a lot of it. You'll see Fadil Diggs but

you're also going to see a lot of young guys like King Joseph Edwards, for example, Isaiah Hastings

Isaiah Jaboudi. There is a lot of different players that you're going to see on that front

seven and it's going to be very interesting to see. So there's a lot going on for Syracuse football

but we're just reaching away and counting down the hours until week one. Go Orange
