What's up Orange Fizz Nation? Alex Burstein here. It's one of the quietest
0:04
parts of the year for sports between all-star breaks and Olympic breaks. Not
0:08
a lot going on. One thing that has been heating up recently is the NBA Summer
0:13
League and plenty of former Syracuse men's basketball players competing for either G League or NBA roster spots for this upcoming season. We'll look today at
0:22
who's been doing really good and who needs to pick it up a little bit in the last few games of the NBA Summer League. One guy who's looked really good and he
0:30
just finished his time up at Syracuse is Judah Mintz. The guard just finished up
0:34
his time at Syracuse this past spring, tested the NBA draft while theirs went
0:39
undrafted, but was able to sign a Summer League contract with the Philadelphia
0:43
76ers and he has made the most of his time averaging 10 points per game across
0:47
three games so far, had a 16-point performance against the Trail Blazers. So
0:52
Judah Mintz, we've seen him look really good for the Orange. Now he's trying to take that skill set into the next level and these type performances are what
1:00
gets you to the next level in the NBA. A couple of guys who need to pick it up a
1:05
little bit the last few games of the Summer League. We have someone like Cole Swither who's been back and forth between the NBA and the G League, had a
1:12
Miami Heat contract but got that drop so he's looking for a contract for this
1:16
upcoming season. He's averaging nine points per game, had one big performance
1:20
21 points earlier this summer, but he might need one more big performance to
1:24
really convince another team to take a chance or have the Heat pick up another
1:29
contract for him. Swither fighting for more NBA minutes and then you have
1:33
someone like Buddy Boeheim who's been a star at the G League level for the
1:37
Pistons, struggled when he's been called up to the NBA squad and then this summer
1:42
he got moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder on an Exhibit 10 contract. He's
1:46
been underwhelming this summer, 6.7 points per game. He's a sharpshooter, so you'd like to see that number a little bit higher for Boeheim. He'll try
1:54
to clean that up in the last couple games of the summer. A couple of players
1:58
who started with Syracuse and then moved on. Jesse Edwards has looked really
2:01
strong. He moved from Syracuse to West Virginia and then Quincy Guerrier and Joe
2:07
Gerrard have both been playing for the Toronto Raptors. Not many minutes for
2:10
them. We'll see who can make the jump to the big leagues for Syracuse
